About Me

Bruce on Trumpet

My usual role is in playing solo with backing soundtracks and orchestral music from the 50’s through to the 80’s as well as other popular pieces to date. This, I believe, brings a different spectrum to what people might perceive from trumpet players – adding a little exclusiveness!

My personal musical mandate Style is Easy listening / light contemporary with some gospel… I do not play jazz, although I may at times play a “jazz style” within my musical repertoire… nor do I play Blues – there are plenty of other talented Brass players around doing both, without me needing to replicate, and, quite possibly doing a far better job than I would.

Music…. ANY music, using most types of instruments (?) does in general, effect the human spirit… my understanding on this is paramount as to why I desire to keep playing an instrument as my years go by. Music, whether singing or instrumental is I believe, a universal language that transcends the human mind arousing emotions, memory, healing, joy and including sadness…

The trumpet is one known instruments that’s been around for over 2000 years plus, and although it might be easy to pick one up and blow (even though this is not the case!), I recon any instrument becomes part of the person who plays it, maybe this is why certain instruments don’t suit just anyone… they become (…) part of the person who plays one. I aspire to this reasoning!

Below are some images that over the years represent my playing moments… a couple of highlights was playing at a Prime ministers Dinner and some other high profile leaders in Australia, as well as a couple of pubs overseas in New York and Vancouver, in addition to the time playing around some local Melbourne pubs and Restaurants.
